Need Moar Bandwith! "Internet Connection" (Flux Pavillion Remix) by M.I.A.

Flux Pavillion makes great dubstep and M.I.A. makes great music. This remix is hard-hitting and I love the way they build up M.I.A.'s vocals. This song is available on Spotify.

More Yelle Remixes

Comme Un Enfant (Second Date Remix)

Safari Disco Club (Beatacue Remix)

After I posted the Ce Jeu remix a couple days ago I ended up listening to Yelle's entire 'Safari Disco Club' Remix album and was blown away by a couple of the remixes. I have included above my two favorites, "Comme Un Enfant" (Second Date Remix) and Safari Disco Club (Beatacue Remix). The first song boasts a trancy beat and hypnotic french vocals. The second song is more of a banger, with an awesome break-down. Listen for Yelle's pronunciation of "Safari Disco Club" in the chorus, it took me a couple listens to figure out that that was what she was saying. Both songs are available on Spotify.

THEESatisfaction-Do You Have The Time?

Try and not fall in love with this song. THEESatisfaction is a two-women rap duo based out of Seattle. Their style can be described as 'Stoner Street Rap'. This song, 'Do You Have The Time?' is an amazing example of how great their musical talents are--it reminds me of a puff of a spliff in a song. Listen to it, it sorta reminds me of Lauryn Hill. Song not yet available on Spotify, I will let you know when it becomes available.  Roll it up, roll it up...
*Side Note: If you are attending Sasquatch! look out for THEESatisfaction, they are performing!

Royksopp-What Else Is There (Trentemoller Remix)

I have heard countless remixes of 'What Else Is There' and just came across this one today. The visual for it is pretty cool and matches with the music quite well. It takes the hypnotic vocals and adds a cool, chilled-out techno beat and a great guitar solo at the end. This song is available on Spotify.

New Diplo! "Make it Pop" feat. Don Diablo

The visual for Diplo & Don Diablo's collab "Make it Pop" was released today on Diablo's Youtube account. This song is typical Diplo and follows up on the energy of Lazer's release of "Original Don". The sampling is great and the video is hysterical as well. This song is worth a listen and is available on Spotify.

Ce Jeu (Tepr Remix)- Yelle

Try and not fall in love with this amazing remix of "Ce Jeu", the hit single by French artist Yelle, as remixed by Tepr. It is awesome. I highly recommend checking out her other song "Que Veux Tu (Madeon Remix)".  I am telling you, this shit is good.

Both songs can be found on Spotify

Above & Beyond--the best electronic music you've never heard

I was browsing through the iTunes electronic section the other day and came across this electronic band called "Above & Beyond". I previewed a couple of their songs off of their latest album, "Group Therapy" and was impressed, so I downloaded it. I just listened to the whole album and let me say this-I was blown away.

Their music is classified as trance, a genre I tend to shy away from, because I always thought of it as a boring and monotonous. This album completely smashed this generalization out the window. Their music has soaring vocals, amazing beats, and some of the most impressive progression I have heard in a while. Don't be fooled though-Above & Beyond has been a stronghold in the electronic industry since the early 2000's. Their previous album, Tri-Cities, was a bestseller in its genre. They also curate the best of trance music in their Anjunabeats Volumes which are released annually. These include some of their own original work mixed with hypnotic, feel-good music. Anyways, check out my favorite songs off of their new album below and let me know what you think.

Song #1: Prelude
This is probably one of the coolest songs on the album. It starts out as a heavy-hitting, dub-steppy song and quickly progresses into a chilled out beat, finishing with some of the nicest sounding vocals I have heard in a while (think Enya). I really enjoy this song because as it progresses it becomes more and more uplifting making for one of the most inspirational songs I have heard in a while.

Song #2: Alchemy
Zoe Johnston is one of the vocalists featured on a couple of songs on the album, and this one is my favorite. They distort her vocals on the chorus making for a really cool effect. I also like the analogy that they use for the chorus--people who took gen. chem. will enjoy this-- "It was alchemy, to sing to me your freedom song/To make love where there was none/Alchemy, now its all gone/And you were the golden one."

Song #3: Black Room Boy
This song features the other main vocalist on the album, Richard Bedford, and is also my favorite of his. His vocals blend smoothly with the building beat.

Lezy Summer Dayz Mixtape

Whats up y'all. Karl here, sorry I have been sluffin on my posting, but I have been saving up some tunes for a nice start to summer playlist. So, ladies throw on your swimsuits and beach dresses, fellas throw on your trunks, download and burn these songs to a CD and take it to the beach--guaranteed to make the sun shine a little brighter and the ocean a little bluer.

Song #1: Lights Out (Herve Remix)- Santigold
I have always been a big fan of Santigold and this ethereal remix really got me vibin'. Perfect to lay back and chill too. Also has a really nice progressive techno beat.
DOWNLOAD

Song #2: Silhouettes (Original Vocal Mix)- Avicii
Honestly, who doesn't love Avicii right now? His songs bring the energy of dubstep with the happiness of electro-pop club bangers that just make you feel good. I particularly like this lesser-known song of his.
DOWNLOAD

Song #3: Limit To Your Love (Benny Benassi Unreleased remix)- James Blake
The only way I can describe Blake's style is Post-/Indie Dubstep. Benny Benassi took advantage of the dubstep side of things, dropping this AMAZING remix of Blake's lead single, Limit to Your Love. This song starts out chill but quickly builds to a crescendo that just grips you and doesn't let go.
DOWNLOAD

Song #4: Boyfriend- Best Coast
Although this song is a little girly, the lead singer's infectious voice and catchy guitar riff makes this song perfect for downing a couple of cold Corona's too.
DOWNLOAD

Song #5 & 6: Illuminata & Come With Me- ceo
I oftentimes just go on iTunes and peruse their electronic section just to find random dj's I have never heard of. ceo is a band I came across on my latest foray. I really like these two songs, but then again I like their whole album. Kind of remind me of Holy Ghost! a little bit.
DOWNLOAD (Illuminata)
DOWNLOAD (Come With Me)

Song #7: Blue Skies- Willie Nelson
This awesome Willie Nelson song is guaranteed to put the sun in your eyes and make you forget about your problems. I can listen to this song on repeat.
DOWNLOAD *NOTE* I could not find the Mediafire to this song. To download, right click on the download link (which you get after entering a security code) and choose "Download Linked File" from the options

Song #8: Every Teardrop is a Waterfall- Coldplay
I am not gonna lie... I have always been a big fan of Coldplay. Their anthemic, epic rock songs make me feel great and this new song is no exception. Think Viva La Vida with a little more electronic influence.
DOWNLOAD

Song #9: C.T.F.O.- SebastiAn (feat. M.I.A.)
SebastiAn kind of hearkens to Sleigh Bells-esque acid rock/pop and M.I.A.'s vocals are awesome telling us to C.T.F.O.--chill the fuck out!!! My mother needs to listen to this song...
DOWNLOAD

Song #10: Satisfied N' Tickled Too- Taj Mahal
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm let this reggae-soul get you on dat wavelength.
DOWNLOAD *NOTE* The same download instructions go for this one as with the Willie Nelson song... you have to download this one its awesome!!!

Song #11: I Left My Wallet in El Segundo (Vampire Mix)- A Tribe Called Quest
I have always been a huge fan of Tribe and when I accidentally added an 800-song Fatboy Slim discography that I had torrented to my library (Best mistake I have ever made) I was more then pleased to hear this funky remix of El Segundo, one of my favorite songs by them.
DOWNLOAD

Song #12: We Can Not Get Enough!- Laidback Luke
Laidback Luke is one of my favorite DJ's right now. He has awesome transitions and his dj-ing skills are super on point. I discovered this song on his BBC Radio One Essential Mix and immediately fell in love with it... I think you will too. Kind of makes me feel like I am dancing across a 'field of bass'.
DOWNLOAD

Song #13: Happiness- Pizzaman
Another song I discovered on my Fatboy Slim music overload... and I think a perfect cap to this mixtape. I like it because it is an electronic song that manages to incorporate real instruments and nice gospel vocals. Also, I'm not gonna lie, it puts a big smile on my face.
DOWNLOAD *NOTE* The same download rules go for this one... right click on download link and click 'Download Linked File'! This is another must have!

Enjoy these songs and check back here often. Now that me and Gabe have joined forces back in the 206, expect a lot more cheesy joints to be thrown your way.
