More Yelle Remixes

Comme Un Enfant (Second Date Remix)

Safari Disco Club (Beatacue Remix)

After I posted the Ce Jeu remix a couple days ago I ended up listening to Yelle's entire 'Safari Disco Club' Remix album and was blown away by a couple of the remixes. I have included above my two favorites, "Comme Un Enfant" (Second Date Remix) and Safari Disco Club (Beatacue Remix). The first song boasts a trancy beat and hypnotic french vocals. The second song is more of a banger, with an awesome break-down. Listen for Yelle's pronunciation of "Safari Disco Club" in the chorus, it took me a couple listens to figure out that that was what she was saying. Both songs are available on Spotify.

THEESatisfaction-Do You Have The Time?

Try and not fall in love with this song. THEESatisfaction is a two-women rap duo based out of Seattle. Their style can be described as 'Stoner Street Rap'. This song, 'Do You Have The Time?' is an amazing example of how great their musical talents are--it reminds me of a puff of a spliff in a song. Listen to it, it sorta reminds me of Lauryn Hill. Song not yet available on Spotify, I will let you know when it becomes available.  Roll it up, roll it up...
*Side Note: If you are attending Sasquatch! look out for THEESatisfaction, they are performing!

Royksopp-What Else Is There (Trentemoller Remix)

I have heard countless remixes of 'What Else Is There' and just came across this one today. The visual for it is pretty cool and matches with the music quite well. It takes the hypnotic vocals and adds a cool, chilled-out techno beat and a great guitar solo at the end. This song is available on Spotify.

New Diplo! "Make it Pop" feat. Don Diablo

The visual for Diplo & Don Diablo's collab "Make it Pop" was released today on Diablo's Youtube account. This song is typical Diplo and follows up on the energy of Lazer's release of "Original Don". The sampling is great and the video is hysterical as well. This song is worth a listen and is available on Spotify.

Update Your Wardrobe-DSQUARED2

DSQUARED2, designed by identical twin brothers Dean and Dan Caten, create some of the best high-end clothes I have seen. Their aesthetic runs towards something that reminds me of a grafitti-soaked, old-school hip-hop influenced style. I have been a fan of them for a while and below are some of my favourite pieces from their F/W11 and S/S12 collections.

In order of price, descending:

                                Red                                        Beige                                Military Green
---These three "L/S tailored shirts" are all priced at $450. They are tailored very well and work nicely under a blazer or suit for interesting effect. Last summer's camoflauge trend is re-imagined here quite creatively. The camoflauge is subtle and markedly stylized. The colours that the shirts are named after is whichever colour is most prominent in the camoflauge accent on the shirt (ie. Red on the cuffs of the Red shirt).

---Continuing the trend with the shirts, we have this more laid-back 'flannel L/S shirt' on sale for $375. I am a big fan of flannel and would definitely wear this quite a bit. It could go with either sneakers and jeans or Clarks and khakis. Flannel is versatile and almost always looks good.

---Having a nice pair of jeans can be the difference in making an impression or having your outfit look lame. I own a pair of DSQUARED2 denim and I find them to be the best pair of jeans I own. The fit is impeccable (they are tailored in Italy) and they look great with nearly any shirt I choose to wear it with. These 'denim cotton jeans' are on sale for $270 and are guaranteed to make you look fresh.

---Many people detest the graphic tee. I, however, find it to be an essential staple of my wardrobe. I have filled up my dresser with graphic tees I have attained around the world and find them to be great conversation-starters. This graphic tee, at $180, is a nice picture of a 'Coast Postcard' with logo detailing. At a price like that you are guaranteed that the shirt will fit well and look nice on. If you don't wish to spend that much I highly suggest checking out Urban Outfitters for graphic t-shirts. They are much more reasonably-priced and I own quite a few tees from them that people seem to often comment on.

Ce Jeu (Tepr Remix)- Yelle

Try and not fall in love with this amazing remix of "Ce Jeu", the hit single by French artist Yelle, as remixed by Tepr. It is awesome. I highly recommend checking out her other song "Que Veux Tu (Madeon Remix)".  I am telling you, this shit is good.

Both songs can be found on Spotify

SPOTIFY 101

I downloaded Spotify last August when I had heard about it through Twitter. I had little clue as to what it was. When I first opened it, I remember being in complete awe--it was like having an entire iTunes store at my disposal. I could listen to any song, in full length, and star it for later listening... for free. It was one of those things that just seemed to good to be true.

I quickly opted for the $10 a month premium Spotify and since then it has completely replaced my iTunes--I can't even remember the last time I have opened iTunes. With this service, I have complete access to any album or artist or song I can think of at any time on my iPhone. The songs that I have 'starred' for later listening can be synced on to my phone through my network, to be used in 'Offline Mode'. This means I can listen to my 'Starred Songs' (702 tracks at the moment) when my phone doesn't get any reception, like on an airplane. It's really awesome.

This following tutorial is meant to educate people on how revolutionary Spotify can be for discovering music. It always shocks me when I ask people if they have Spotify and they say "No, I don't know what that is" or "Ya, but I don't understand it". I have been given these answers by so many people that I felt it was a neccesity for me to write an article on what exactly you can do with Spotify to optimize your usage of the program and understand how easy and fun it can be for even the most computer illiterate to share and discover music.
